NOMA RESORT

Best Places to Visit in the Sierra Nevada Mountains

You’ve probably heard of Yosemite National Park… but have you heard of Mammoth Pools, Redinger Lake, or the historic Jesse Ross cabin? Here in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, these are some of the best places to visit! And we’re so excited to tell you all about them!

Noma Resorts itself sits along the famous Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, and here on site, you will be greeted by beautiful mountain views, Ross Creek, stocked fishing ponds, walking trails, and an organic apple orchard.

We may be biased, but we think it is one of the best places to visit in the Sierra Nevada Mountains!

Just 0.7 miles from Noma, you will find the historic Jesse Ross Cabin. In this article by Sierra News Online, you can read about a prospector named Jesse Ross, who in the 1860’s built a beautiful log cabin by hand and planted a 5-acre apple orchard. It is certainly worth the stop!

North of Noma, you can visit the Mile High Vista which is truly stunning. It is one of the best places to go if you want an unobstructed view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. From sweeping granite domes to views of the Mammoth Pool Reservoir and the San Joaquin River canyon, it is quite the sight. Visit CA Forest Service website for more info!

Drive about 20 minutes further and you will find Mammoth Pool Reservoir, which is one of the best places to fish here in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The lake is also a great spot for camping, exploring, and hiking! Visit the official page here for more information about recreation options.

Now, in the opposite direction, make sure to stop at the Redinger Lake Vista Overlook to get a beautiful view of the lake below. Did you know that the exact geographic center of California is located on the way down to that lake? It’s bucket-list worthy!

Be sure to stop by the mountain town known as North Fork! While North Fork may be small, you’d be surprised by what you can do and see there! Craving a burger? Check out The Cabin on Road 222. We swear it is the best place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for some great comfort food! While you are in town, we also recommend checking out the local antique shops, the Mono Indian Museum and Cultural Center, and of course, Whiskey Falls. Simply put, this is one of the most beautiful waterfalls to be found on this side of the mountain. For directions, check out this website here.

North Fork is just below the beautiful Bass Lake. Bass Lake is renowned for excellent fishing and hiking trails. Definitely add this place to your bucket list! With colorful leaves in the fall, green trees in the spring, blooming wildflowers in the summer, and snow capped hills in the winter, it’s one of the best places to visit in the Sierra Nevada Mountains year round.
